About Jamie
I am a friendly, reliable and professional tutor with over 4 years of experience helping students improve their confidence and understanding in science. I studied biology, chemistry and physics at A-level, hold a BSc in Biomedical Science and I am currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine at King’s College London, giving me a strong academic background across all areas of science.
I understand that students can often lose confidence when they find a subject difficult, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and working through mistakes. My lessons are always tailored to the individual, with a focus on clear explanations, exam technique and building genuine understanding.
I am organised, patient and committed to helping each student achieve their goals. I also hold a valid DBS certificate, and I take professionalism, punctuality and communication seriously.

Hi, I am Jamie, an experienced science tutor with over 4 years of tutoring experience, offering personalised lessons tailored to the individual needs and learning style of each student. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods depending on their confidence, ability and goals.
My lessons focus on building a strong understanding of key concepts and understanding what an examiner wants, rather than simply memorising information. I use a combination of clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, exam-style questions and active recall to help students understand difficult topics and apply their knowledge confidently and correctly. I also encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson and regularly check their understanding so that any areas of confusion can be addressed straight away.
Lessons are typically one hour long, although longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student's needs, particularly when preparing for exams or covering larger topics.
I hold a BSc in Biomedical Science, and I am currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine at King's College London. My academic background gives me a strong understanding of the sciences and allows me to explain topics in a way that links fundamental concepts to real-world examples where appropriate. I hold a valid DBS certificate.
I have over 4 years of tutoring experience and work with students across a range of ages and abilities. My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, including GCSE and A-level students, whether they are looking to improve their confidence, strengthen their understanding, prepare for examinations or work towards higher grades.
Above all, I aim to create a supportive and relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing confidence in their abilities.

I have known Jamie for the past five years and have always found him to be incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and approachable. As a medical student, he has a strong understanding of the sciences and is particularly good at explaining complex topics in a clear and easy-to-understand way. He is naturally encouraging and takes the time to make sure his students genuinely understand what they are learning, rather than simply memorizing information. I have seen how dedicated and hardworking Jamie is, and I’m confident that he would make an excellent tutor who students can feel comfortable asking questions and learning from. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable science tutor.
Jamie was superb last term when he tutored my son A-Level Biology. Highly recommend!!
Mr Houseago is an incredibly talented teacher. In the past two years he helped my son go from strength to strength in terms of understanding the syllabus as well as developing his exam technique in Biology a-level.
