About Cedric

Hi, I'm Cédric. I'm a classical guitarist from New Brunswick, currently finishing my Doctorate in Music Performance at the University of Toronto — but the part of my job I actually care about is the moment a student plays something they were sure they couldn't.

I started on electric guitar: rock, blues, metal, years before I ever touched a classical piece. So I'm genuinely fluent in both worlds, and I won't push you toward one. Along the way I was named one of CBC's 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 and won First Prize at the Canadian National Music Festival two years running — which mostly means I know what it takes to get good, and how to shortcut the parts that waste your time.

I teach in English and French, in person in Toronto or online. Complete beginners are just as welcome here as advancing players — and if you've been told you're "not musical," I'd love the chance to prove otherwise.

About the lesson

Whatever you want to play, that's where we start.

Maybe you've never held a guitar. Maybe you've plateaued and can't figure out why. Maybe there's one song you've had stuck in your head for years. Tell me which, and I'll build the lessons around it — no one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Plucking some Bach or a riff you can't stop humming. Chord changes that stop feeling impossible. A full song, front to back, within your first few weeks. Preparing for RCM exams, a university audition, or a competition? I've done all three, and I'll get you there. Just want to play for the joy of it? Equally welcome.

Expect real technique, real progress, and a fair amount of laughing — you'll learn faster when you're relaxed than when you're worried about looking silly.

Your first consultation is free: 30 minutes, no commitment. Message me and tell me one song you'd love to play, and I'll reply with exactly how we'd get you there.

Perfect! I've been taking lessons with Cedric twice a week since May 2026. When searching for a teacher, I was looking for someone with an education in music to make sure I was learning the correct technique. Besides being knowledgeable and professional, Cedric is also: patient, personable, and adapts his teaching to my learning style to help me reach my goals.
