The best tip which I got was from my A-level Math teacher. He insisted on marking your mistakes with a (red) marker. This helped me a lot for all kinds of subjects and as we all know, we learn from our mistakes ... Back home in Germany my experience was subjects English and Math in a group of 3 to 6 for A-level students.
