About Gemma

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have over seven years teaching experience, both in the UK and overseas.

My experiences as an English teacher are varied. This includes: teaching classes to a group of 50 Chinese University students in Southern China, working as a business English teacher with clients from some of the top industries in Paris and running a successful freelance tutoring business in London.

Most recently I have been teaching young people (11-16) online. This could be general English, academic English or interview and entrance exam preparation for independent schools. I have supported a number of successful student applications to some of the top schools in the country, such as Canford, Oundle, Kings School, Marlborough College and Rugby school.

- How much do you charge?

ENGLISH LESSONS

I teach 2 hour classes, as I feel this gives us more time to be productive.

I charge £35 online and £45 face-to-face (to cover my travel costs). I also offer attractive discounts for block booking of lessons.

I include a FREE 45 min trial lesson, which is an opportunity to meet and discuss your needs in more detail.

PROOFREADING

Rates for 2,000-3,000 words:

£20 - General proofread + minor corrections to grammar and vocabulary.

£30 - Substantive proofread: content, organisation, coherence, formatting.

- Where do you teach?

I will travel anywhere in Canterbury and surrounding areas. In terms of Kent, Thanet areas are fine, as are Medway towns. I would like to teach in Whitstable or Herne Bay. I also travel into London one day a week (Thursdays) - I teach in the North West, close to Kings Cross.

- When are you available?

I am available online most weekday afternoons and Thursday, mid morning until evening in London. Some weekends are OK. I am very flexible with online lessons or lessons in the local Canterbury area. Please let me know and we can arrange something convenient.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Children 11-16
Adults Beginner to Advanced

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

IELTS, CAE, TOIEC, TOEFL, common entrance, 11+

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I have plenty of materials specifically designed for online lessons - this includes schemes for work for particular levels or exams. I will teach any aspect of English online, but my main focus is speaking, listening and exam/interview preparation.
