About Tim

My aim is to share my passion for physics and to help students achieve success. My approach is friendly and helpful, to identify strengths and areas that we need to work on. I can find ways to make the subject more accessible and help students gain a deeper understanding of the key concepts in physics. I use interesting examples to illustrate the key ideas as well as past paper questions to develop exam technique. I have extensive experience in preparing students for the GCSE Physics and A-level Physics examinations. I know the areas where students typically have difficulty and can identify these and provide clear explanations to build a better understanding. Many of my students have gone to study at leading universities. I consider myself to be very approachable and like to create a positive climate where students feel comfortable to ask as many questions as they need to. I have held the positions of Head of Physics and Head of Science in an Ofsted graded 'outstanding' school, currently Teacher of Physics, including GCSE and A level classes. Tim was a very dedicated teacher, colleague and Head of Department at our school in Cambridgeshire. He left as he was relocating with his family. His friendly and hard working nature got the best out of his students and under his leadership the science results went from strength to strength at KS4 and KS5. He has experienced many exam boards through many changes and therefore knows the physics curriculum and examinations very well.

I first met Tim as his school mentor whilst he as completing his PGCE at Cottenham Village College and we were so impressed with him that we were able to create a vacancy and appoint him as a teacher from the following September.
Tim is an exceptional teacher who always puts the care of his students first. He is a reflective practitioner who strives to improve his classroom performance and this is demonstrated by him undertaking and successfully completing an M.Ed with the University of Cambridge.
