About Byron Oswin
Hello! My name is Byron Majiedt, and I am a passionate and dedicated educator currently completing my second year in the Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate Phase. My journey in education is not just academic; it is a genuine commitment to helping young learners unlock their full potential. My teaching philosophy is built on a foundation of structured learning and engaging innovation. I expertly blend Direct Instruction—to ensure core concepts are clearly understood—with Gamification, which transforms challenging topics into exciting and interactive experiences. This unique approach not only helps improve marks but, more importantly, builds lasting confidence and a genuine love for learning. This methodology is refined by my hands-on experience gained through teaching practicums at various schools, where I've successfully planned and delivered lessons to diverse classrooms. I offer comprehensive tutoring support in all core Intermediate Phase subjects, specializing in Mathematics, English, Afrikaans (both Home and First Additional Language), Natural Science and Technology, and Social Science. You can expect my lessons to be well-prepared, reliable, and focused on your specific goals. I pride myself on creating a supportive and respectful environment where questions are encouraged, and every achievement is celebrated. My ultimate goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and self-assurance to thrive in your academic journey. I look forward to the opportunity to help you succeed

My Tutoring Approach: Building Confidence & Mastery Through Engagement My approach is built on the belief that learning should be an active and empowering process. I specialize in the Intermediate Phase curriculum and am currently completing my Bachelor of Education degree, which means I am trained in the latest pedagogical methods and curriculum requirements. My Methodology & What Makes Me Unique: What sets me apart is my dynamic blend of Direct Instruction and Gamification. I firmly believe in providing clear, structured explanations to build a solid foundation in subjects like Mathematics and Languages. Then, I bring these concepts to life through educational games, interactive challenges, and digital tools. This "learning by doing" approach transforms difficult topics into engaging puzzles, boosting confidence and making lessons something students genuinely look forward to. My recent practical teaching experience in various schools has given me a deep understanding of the common challenges students face and how to overcome them effectively. Languages of Instruction: I am fully proficient and able to teach in both English and Afrikaans. I offer lessons for both Home Language and First Additional Language streams in these subjects, providing tailored support for language comprehension, literature, and writing skills. What to Expect in a Typical Lesson: A typical lesson with me is structured, supportive, and interactive. We will begin by reviewing previous material to ensure mastery, then move into a clear, step-by-step introduction of a new concept. This is immediately followed by applying the knowledge through a mix of traditional practice and game-based activities. Whether it's a math problem turned into a timed mission or a language lesson built around a creative story-building game, the goal is to reinforce learning in a memorable way. Each session concludes with constructive feedback and a clear plan for what we'll tackle next. Who My Lessons Are For: My lessons are specifically designed for Intermediate Phase students (Grades 4-6). I offer comprehensive support across all core subjects, including: Mathematics Languages: English and Afrikaans (Home & First Additional) Natural Science and Technology Social Science (History and Geography) I am particularly skilled at working with students who need to build foundational skills, those who may have lost confidence in a subject, and learners who thrive with a more hands-on, interactive style of education. My goal is to help each student not only improve their grades but also develop a genuine love for learning.
