About Lilly
I have tutored multiple students aged 14-16 within my nearest secondary school which have achieved extraordinarily elevated confidence in Maths and Physics and are now predicted the equivalent of As and A*s. I have further experience working with children aged 6-16 teaching Taekwondo and have been a pastoral officer within my school assisting younger students with mental health. I am therefore an extremely strong communicator and have been taught effective teaching theory making me equally sympathetic and patient as assertive.

My teaching approach is based on first building intrigue and interest in the subject, in Mathematics and Physics this would include deriving equations first of all and running through the purpose of the topic/subtopic being taught within the wider world. This mostly pure mathematics would them be applied to the relevant theory which allows students to later have shorter recall times and more success in cross-association between topics. We would then dive into practise questions and spend time after reviewing and mind-mapping different approaches to questions that the student struggled with. In doing this, some theory may have to be reviewed also. This would elevate the confidence of the student so we could then do a few questions that are further than the respective syllabus which would set the student up for success no matter what crops up in their exams/lessons. In many physics topics, such as further mechanics or photoelectric, I would ask the student to prepare a very brief explanation of an application of this physics within their everyday world and the tutoring of that topic would then end. If the student is struggling, I will provide pre-recorded videos slowly running through example questions applying all the theory the student knows so far.
