About Jon
I work as an environmental planner for cities, but I have a passion for teaching English as a second language (ESL)! I have an Honours Bachelor's degree in International Studies and Modern Languages from the University of Ottawa as well as a Master's in International Development Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands. I've been teaching ESL for about two years now.

What we decide to study or focus on is entirely up to you! My first experience teaching English was with a newcomer to Canada who wanted to focus on conversations and just feeling more confident speaking in everyday English. In his case, we focused on helpful common words to expand his vocabulary, learning how to construct easy as well as slightly complex sentences, and funny idiomatic expressions ("sayings") common in English.
Whatever your goals are, my approach is really to make the learning process as easy, fun and EFFECTIVE for you as possible.
