I knew John between September 2002 and July 2010.
We both worked in the same mathematics department at Pimlico Secondary School secondary school later known as Pimlico Academy.
John taught Year 7 through Year 13 pupils across the complete ability range.
This included GCSE Statistics, A-Level Pure, Mechanics and Statistics. He also taught IT to Year 7 and 8 pupils.
He is a committed and an experienced maths teacher who have successfully supported students as a teacher, a mentor and a tutor.
He has worked collaboratively, on improving schemes of work for all stages with clear differentiation. John has regularly assessed and monitored progress of the students by assessments. He targeted students who were not achieving each their potential after each assessment and put interventions in in place by organising one to one tutoring or providing after school help.
He has successfully completed the first year of a three year part time masters degree in the teaching of mathematics.John’s teaching ranges from Year 7 to Year 13 ages across all abilities. He has taught Core, Statistics and Mechanics modules at A level and both GCSE Mathematics and Statistics. Throughout his teaching career, John has generally met or exceeded his pupil attainment targets. Notably, his year 10 class who sat their Statistics GCSE in June 2009, achieved 93% a*-C.
John organised and attended Saturday morning Gifted and Talented sessions over a 5 year period which has a positive impact on the take up of Mathematics at A-level.John was much more open to me and less intimidating than my maths teacher this meant that I could ask him more questions without the fear of being judged. All the hard maths questions were made easy and it made me think why I had so much trouble with this subject. In fact he sometimes taught me Physics. At the end of the year 10 in my GCSE results I achieved an A star in my Maths and A stars in my Physics.
Hi John,
I just wanted to let you know that I got into Loughborough university and that I achieved a B in maths overall, which I am pleased with. Thanks for all your help over the last few years, I have enjoyed every moment in all our maths sessions and that I will definitely miss having them. Once again I would again like to reiterate how grateful I am.
Thank you for all your hardworkSee more recommendations
