About Edward

I’m a friendly and patient British English teacher with six years of experience, more than 5,000 teaching hours and hundreds of clients from over 15 nationalities. My lessons are practical, encouraging and adapted to each person’s ability, interests and reasons for learning English. Whether you want to feel more confident in everyday conversation, communicate more naturally at work, strengthen your grammar or improve your pronunciation, we will focus on the areas that matter most to you. Mistakes are always welcome in my classroom because they are an important part of learning. There are no silly questions, and nobody is expected to progress at exactly the same pace. My aim is to create a relaxed environment in which you feel comfortable speaking, experimenting and gradually becoming more independent. I hold a BA in Popular Music, where I focused particularly on lyricism and songwriting. This developed my understanding of language, rhythm and expression—skills that continue to influence the engaging and creative way I teach English today. One of the things I value most about teaching is meeting people from different countries and backgrounds. I genuinely enjoy watching clients become more confident and seeing them use their English successfully outside the classroom.

About the lesson

A typical technique that I approach teaching is to allow as much time for students to speak to teach other as possible. Considering conversation is an opportunity that I have found a lot of my students are looking for. Naturally this will be enforced by the opportunity to learn new vocabulary as well as have the opportunity to go through authentic reading and listening material . I will usually source an appropriate ESL book to structure my lessons however for higher level students (B2+). I will on occasion find a newspaper article or a YouTube clip for my students to use.
Depending on the age and the level of my potential students , my lesson lengths can range from : 45 minutes up until 90 minutes.
In my 3 years of ESL experience where I have gained my CELTA qualification. I have taught a wide and diverse range of students from mid age teenagers up until adults . Similarly their ability levels have been greatly diverse. I am happiest teaching students of A2 level up until C2 level.
