I have been giving French and English lessons by Web Cam for more than 15 years in Paris, Marseille, Angers, France as well as as in California & Florida in the United States.
As an example, I had three young lady students in Paris who needed to be able to converse conversationally in English to get their teaching license. I coached all three of them for six months and they all passed the test with flying colors. I am quite proud of this especially as a native. Frenchman.

Estimate the students level, Explain to the students my work ethics, emphasize the importance for the student to systematically repeat after me each time I give him a pronunciation tip. Tell the student that they already know at least 500 French words, all the words ending up in TION, ADE, etc. , where to put the tonic accent on these words so that it will become a French word by pronouncing the word in French correctly.
Ask them if they have read my resume.
Ask them if they like music, some students prefer singing a phrase rather than speaking it and they learned better that way. Explain to them why I think I can teach them conversational French with my worldwide experience in music writing and International business. Teach them five or six typical phrases that they would need while traveling.
