About Maria

Hi, I’m Maria, a current Chemical Biology student at the University of British Columbia with a strong academic background in chemistry, biology, physics, and math. With years of experience in STEM subjects and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in these fields, I am here to help middle and high school students master challenging concepts, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student’s unique needs. My teaching methodology emphasizes conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, ensuring students build a strong foundation in the subject while gaining confidence in their abilities. I encourage questions and foster a collaborative atmosphere where students feel comfortable exploring challenging topics.

What Sets Me Apart

Subject Expertise: As a current chemical biology student at UBC with a strong academic background in chemistry, biology, physics, and math, I bring a deep understanding of these subjects. I also relate to students preparing for standardized exams or navigating difficult topics, as I have recently gone through similar challenges.

Engagement and Patience: I excel at making abstract concepts accessible and fun, fostering curiosity and engagement. I take the time to ensure students fully understand material before moving forward.

Focus on Skills Beyond the Classroom: I aim to equip students with problem-solving strategies, critical thinking skills, and efficient study techniques that will serve them well in their academic journey and beyond.

Who the Lessons Are For

Grade Levels: Middle school and high school students (Grades 6–12).

Subjects: Chemistry, biology, physics, and math.

Special Focus: Students preparing for tests, struggling with specific concepts, or looking to deepen their understanding of STEM subjects.

My approach ensures that students not only improve their grades but also develop a passion for science and math, laying a strong foundation for future success.
