I've spent years teaching in classrooms, in the field, and at the university level. Something I keep coming back to is that abstract kills motivation. So I teach with a healthy amount of examples of 'the thing behind the thing'.
Stoichiometry is a recipe. Limiting reagents are what happens when you run out of one ingredient mid-batch. We'll work through it that way, then we'll work through it again with the formula, then one more time with a practice problem.
I always used problem sets and repetition as a method, not a 'punishment'. Each time, students are seeing the same idea from a slightly different position until it clicks for all of them.
Sessions are structured but flexible. We open with a warm-up that tells me what's actually stuck, not just what the homework says. I help you connect the new material to a system or concept you can picture. We work problems together first, then you take the lead while I ask questions instead of giving answers. Before we close, you summarize it back to me in plain language.
I tutor high school students across math and science, and university students through second-year coursework — biochemistry, microbiology, and A&P. Strong fit if you're in a science or pre-health program and the quantitative side of your courses is the thing holding you back.
