About Jonathan

I hold a Honours BA in History and Greek and Roman Studies as well as an MA in Archaeology of the Arab and Islamic World. During my studies I have presented my research at a number of conferences all over the world. I have also worked on several archaeological digs in the Republic of North Macedonia, Canada, Qatar, the Republic of Georgia and Kazakhstan

About the lesson

♜ MY METHODOLOGY ♜
You’re here, looking for an English teacher, because you have a particular goal in mind.

I want to get to know exactly what that is, and help guide you to reach it.

No two lessons are alike, because I provide a 100% personalized approach to each one of my students. However, these principles are the foundation of all my lessons:

1 ♟ CONSTANT PROGRESS ♟
We will break down your goal into manageable steps and make steady progress towards it in every lesson.

2 ♟ SIMPLE EFFICIENCY ♟
I use a couple of easy-to-use tools to take advantage of the online medium. This helps make the lessons effective without making them too complicated.
-A digital whiteboard to clarify any questions
-A chat room where I share corrections directly with you, so you don’t have to take time out of our lesson to write them down

3 ♟ OPEN COMMUNICATION ♟
My students often tell me they feel very comfortable in our lessons because I’m very approachable. We will start our collaboration with an in-depth conversation of your goals. You’ll explain to me your vision of what you want to achieve, and together we will find the right path for you. I also regularly ask throughout our lessons for your input and feedback to make sure that you are happy with the lessons and that you are making the best progress you can.

4 ♟ FLEXIBILITY ♟
I don’t insist on using the same textbook for every student just to save some time. In fact, I don’t like using textbooks at all. They have a cookie-cutter approach and usually completely off track of your goals. I use materials from a wide range of sources, adapted specifically to your goals.

5 ♟ ENGAGEMENT ♟
I believe you benefit most when you put a part of yourself into the lesson too. So I encourage students to bring some of their own material to lessons too — articles we can talk about, topics we can discuss, or presentations we can practice. This creates a true collaborative atmosphere where you have decision-making power in how you would like your lessons to be.

6 ♟ GUIDANCE ♟
I provide homework to help you review things after the lesson. But also, I can give you guidance with anything else you need regarding the English language or cultural differences between languages and countries. As you can read in my biography section below, I have lots of experience I can offer and share!
