About India

Hello! I’m India, a First Class Honours Actor Musicianship graduate from GSA (University of Surrey), one of the UK’s leading drama schools. Despite pursuing a creative degree, Maths has always been a huge passion of mine and a subject in which I excel! I achieved A*AB at A Level in Drama, Maths and Music, alongside 5A*s, 4As and 3Bs at GCSE, including A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Music and Drama. I achieved full marks across all of my Maths GCSE papers and independently taught myself Further Maths GCSE – the first Further Maths paper I ever sat was my final exam, where I achieved a top A*! I have over 9 years of teaching experience with students aged 4–18, ranging from 1-to-1 and online tuition to teaching groups of up to 40 students. On MyTutor alone, I’ve taught 3,270+ lessons and received 255 five-star reviews, something I’m incredibly proud of! I tailor every lesson to the individual, combining strong academic focus with a fun, engaging and encouraging approach. GCSE students also receive access to a dedicated Dropbox folder filled with notes, past-paper questions and worked answers, exam-technique documents, formula booklets and revision resources to support their learning outside of lessons. Alongside Maths, I have Grade 8 in Singing, Musical Theatre, Piano, Flute and Piccolo, Grade 6 Violin and Grade 5 Music Theory. My creative training strongly influences my teaching style, meaning my lessons are far from a typical Maths session! I aim to make learning exciting and memorable, helping students build genuine confidence in Maths while working towards grades they can be incredibly proud of!

About the lesson

My sessions begin with an introduction to the topic we will be covering. I tailor every lesson to the student individually, whether they are a visual, kinaesthetic or auditory learner. The first part of my session consists of making notes on the topic. I use lots of different colours, diagrams and visuals to ensure the lesson is engaging and fun. I work to the student's individual pace and will never move on until there is a full understanding and confidence. There is never a need to worry about not understanding - that's what learning is all about! Once the topic is consolidated, the second part of the session consists of past paper question practice. We work together through topical exam questions to prepare the student for the layout and standard of question they will receive in their exam. In my opinion, question practice is vital for success in Maths exams and is a key form of revision. If a student can confidently work through past paper questions on the topic covered, we can both feel confident they will succeed in their exams. Most importantly, my lessons are fun and collaborative. We work together on the interactive whiteboard and I bring aspects of the creative side of my personality into the sessions to distinguish from a typical "boring" maths class. Every student leaves my class feeling more confident in Maths and with a drive that they will achieve their dream grade in their final exam.
