About Rickey
I am a chemistry researcher at Imperial College London with a PhD-level background in chemistry and extensive experience in research, problem-solving and communicating scientific ideas. My work has involved green chemistry, ionic liquids, sustainable materials and a wide range of analytical techniques, alongside supporting students through supervision, marking and academic activities.
I enjoy teaching because I like helping people move from simply memorising information to genuinely understanding why things work.
Having studied in the UK from school through university and postgraduate research, I am familiar with the British education system and understand the progression from GCSE and A-level chemistry through to university-level study. My aim is to make students feel comfortable asking questions, thinking independently and developing confidence in solving unfamiliar problems.

I firmly believe that there is no single approach to teaching that works for every student. My lessons will therefore be tailored to the individual.
I aim to make lessons engaging and enjoyable. Chemistry can often seem difficult when it is presented as a collection of facts and equations, but once students understand the reasoning behind the subject, it becomes much more intuitive. My goal is to help students develop their own way of thinking about chemistry so that they can approach unfamiliar questions with confidence rather than relying solely on memorised methods.
