About Nicole
Check out my video introduction: (concealed information) I am a passionate educator with over 10 years of experience tutoring and teaching mathematics. I specialize in working with students who have learning disabilities and challenges such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and processing disorders. I hold a degree in Mathematics and Economics, with a minor in Psychology to better understand learning behavior, teaching styles, and learning challenges. My background has given me a strong foundation in abstract algebra, combinatorics, calculus, integrals, topology, group theory, and partial differentiation, as well as insights into how students learn best. Over the years, I’ve worked with students from grade 2 through university, helping them develop confidence and succeed academically. Some examples of student progress include: * A student with ADHD who raised their math grades from 65 to 92 over two years through structured learning techniques and personalized study plans. * A student with autism (and an ESL background) who improved from the 40–50 range to 75–85, while also making significant progress in handwriting and communication skills. * A student with dyslexia who improved both in math and literacy, raising their grade from 65 to 85 in just eight months. Although I don’t hold a formal certification in special education, I have extensive hands-on experience and can provide references to verify my success. Outside of academics, I enjoy crochet and spending time with my two cats—who sometimes like to make surprise appearances during sessions! My lessons are tailored to each student’s unique learning needs, with a focus on building conceptual understanding, confidence, and long-term success. I use personalized strategies, interactive problem-solving, real-world applications, and visual aids to make challenging topics accessible and engaging. I specialize in: * **Mathematics** (all levels, including Geometry, Trigonometry, Linear Algebra, Functions, IB Math, and AP Calculus) * **Test Preparation** (SAT Paper 1 & 2, SAT Math Level 1 & 2, GMAT, GRE, ACT) * **Statistics & Integration** (fundamental to advanced topics) * **Science** (all levels up to GCSE, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) * **Key Stages 1, 2, and 3** (supporting younger students in building a strong foundation) For students with learning disabilities, I provide a patient, supportive, and adaptable approach that ensures they feel comfortable asking questions, working at their own pace, and celebrating progress. I provide a free first 45-minute session so we can get to know each other, discuss your goals, and create a personalized plan before starting regular lessons. My hourly rate includes lesson planning, customized materials, interactive online tools (whiteboard, shared notes, and practice questions), and ongoing progress support outside of sessions.
