About Lavanya
I’m a Biology tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MRes in Biology. My passion lies in neurobiology and helping students understand the complexities of the human brain. I specialize in teaching topics such as neural networks, synaptic plasticity, sensation, and perception. These are challenging areas, but I make them accessible through clear explanations and engaging discussions. I have guided many students in understanding cognitive processes and how they shape behavior and learning. My teaching also covers neurological disorders and how they impact brain function. I introduce students to key research methods in neuroscience, building a strong foundation for academic success. Whether it's preparing for exams or exploring research interests, I offer full support at every step. My teaching approach in Biology is gentle, reflective, and deeply focused on the fascinating microscopic world. I help students explore topics like microbiology, bacteria and viruses, disease transmission, and public health biology with clarity and care. My strength as a toxicologist and curious tinkerer helps me guide students through complex systems in a creative, engaging way. I encourage asking questions and thinking beyond the textbook.
I use diagrams, visuals, and simple models to explain invisible processes like infection and immunity. I also teach how to analyze biological data and understand lab techniques. Students are supported in finding their own way of understanding these topics. Whether for exams, assignments, or personal interest, we work together toward confidence and clarity.
