About Sophia
Hi, I’m Sophia! I am a recent International Relations graduate from the University of Calgary and a Dean’s List student with a strong background in research, academic writing, and the social sciences. I am also a 2029 JD candidate.
During my degree, I studied topics across political science, international affairs, history, security studies (with a focus on the Middle East), and geography, while developing extensive experience writing research papers, policy analysis, and argumentative essays. I have also published peer-reviewed undergraduate research.
I enjoy helping students take ideas that feel overwhelming or disorganized and turn them into clear, thoughtful, well-supported work. My approach is encouraging, detail-oriented, and focused on helping students build skills they can carry with them beyond a single assignment.

My lessons are designed to help students build stronger understanding, sharper analysis, and more confident academic writing in international relations, political science, geography, and history. I tailor each session to the student’s course, assignment, and goals, whether that means clarifying difficult concepts, preparing for an exam, developing a research question, or strengthening an essay.
Depending on the student’s needs, a typical lesson may include reviewing course material, breaking down key theories or historical developments, planning and structuring papers, improving thesis statements and arguments, refining research and citation practices, or editing written work for clarity and flow. I focus on helping students understand not only what to improve, but how to apply those skills independently in future assignments.
My tutoring is best suited for high school and undergraduate students seeking support in social sciences and humanities courses, as well as students who want to improve their academic writing, research, and essay development.
