About Jean

Yoga Being is made for people who want the benefits of yoga practices for improving or maintaining quality of life. We specialize in working with people who have chronic health issues and design specialized classes, audio and video practices especially for each person.

As cancer survivor, a special education teacher of 28 years and a practitioner of yoga for 35 years, I know how to teach to the student. My goal is being a loving witness and support during difficult transitions.

After having late stage colorectal cancer, I was given a grim prognosis for five year survival. I had used yoga all my life, but I needed something very different. So, I decided to train as a yoga teacher and help others during cancer.

The longer I've taught, the more I realized that specialized yoga is really important for those needing emotional, physical, mental and spiritual support in difficult times of life.

14 years of teaching "Yoga for Cancer Survivors" and Senior Chair Yoga, Adaptive Yoga and Restorative Yoga

Yoga Alliance Certifications in Hatha, Senior, Prenatal, Gentle, Restorative. I am a Certified Yoga Education Provider as well as an Independent Yoga Teacher Training School. I hold their highest certification: E-RYT500

International Association of Yoga Therapists certified. I teach and train through certified Yoga Therapy programs on IAYT.

Certifications in Hypnosis, Meditation, Yoga for Back Health, Restorative Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Chair Yoga, Senior Yoga, Yoga for Scoliosis, Yoga for Cancer Survivors

28 years as a Resource Specialist and individualizing education to meet student needs.

About the lesson

Students contact me through my website. If they have questions, they can write to me. The offerings are on the website page "Yoga Being Therapeutic Services".

I have them complete an intact form and we spend about 30 minutes during the first visit going over goals of Yoga Therapy. Each new students will receive a personalized meditation and yoga home practice.

The American Association of Cancer Research is having its annual meeting in Chicago. I will attend as an advocate and patient representative, and my posters are on Yoga and Cancer; not only for the patient, but for all those involved with a cancer patient. Caregivers, doctors, nurses, researchers and other advocates will be in attendance. I love to do advocacy work.
