About Teresa
With more than 18 years as a health and wellness professional, wife, mother of three and creator of Sirrine Yoga, Teresa Porter remains passionate about practicing health and wellness in her own life, and teaching others how they can achieve optimal health and live a life they love to live!
After 18 years of working with clients and students, I still love teaching and educating people how and when to use yoga in quick and practical ways to enhance the lifestyle they want to live.
My passion for yoga began in 1999 when I decided to take a couple of classes to attempt to alleviate the tension she experienced from her job as a massage therapist. Not only did I love the instructor, but I remember leaving the class feeling relaxed, lighter and less tense. After the birth of my first daughter, I had severe back problems. MRI’s and doctors could not give a diagnosis. Seeking answers I decided to create my healing path with regular yoga, pilates, walking, and acupuncture. I was amazed by the relief she felt in her back by combining these activities. When I ceased to do the exercises the pain would quickly return. I desired to learn the theory behind these forms of exercise how they could provide better overall health and well-being, which led me to enroll at Scottsdale Community College in the 200 teacher training program. I never dreamed that this would be the beginning of my life changing journey! After to teaching for over ten years in the valley and working with wide range of students, she decided to launch Sirrine Yoga Online in 2014! I like to hear what their goals/intentions are with wanting to add yoga into their lifestyle. How much time they are wanting to dedicate to incorporating yoga into their schedules. I always say start small and get into a routine then we can add more.
I have worked with 20-70 years of all fitness levels and body types, from the NFL, triathletes, body builders to grandparents wanting to be able to play with their grandkids on the floor and being to stand up on their own!
Make sure that their style and experience fit your needs, intention, and goals of wanting to incorporate yoga into your lifestyle!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
To figure out exactly what it is they want to take away from practicing yoga. If they are not sure to do some research on what the different styles of yoga offer and if they will address their needs. How much time(time each day & how many days a week) are they willing to dedicate to it? If the teacher can give them the yoga info to fit those needs?

I've been doing yoga with Teresa for about 3 years now. I've done yoga in the past from DVD's and was looking for something more when I discovered her classes. Her style of teaching and the environment is warm and welcoming at any level of skill or fitness.

In 2007, I found myself recovering from a motorcycle accident that had left me with a torn ACL and LCL in one of my knees. I knew very little of or about yoga at the time, but I had this stereotype of yogis being flexible. Wanting to regain my full range of motion in my knee, I waded cautiously into the waters of one of Teresa's yoga classes. It didn't take long for me to discover that yoga is about so much more than just being flexible. Initially, though, I did see an improvement in my flexibility. Within weeks of my surgery, I was back to a full range of motion in my knee and felt my strength returning. Then my competitiveness began to take over, and it did so in a healthy way. I found myself being constantly challenged by new poses and variation, and this made me more focused in my practice. Incrementally over the long term, I became stronger, more flexible, more conditioned, more in-charge of my breathing, and more mindful of my body. These effects of yoga practice have spilled over into multiple aspects of my life. At work and school, I find myself more centered and focused. At the gym, I find myself having more intensity and endurance, and when I undertake any sort of cardiovascular activity I have a much stronger control over my respiration. I have Teresa to thank for my health and wellness. I would not be able to do many of the activities I enjoy today had it not been for Teresa’s extensive professional experience, client-focused attentiveness, and wise instruction. I fully recommend Teresa for all your yoga needs.
Teresa has magic hands! I've had years of physical therapy and massage for my neck and low back issues and no one has been able to bring relief like Teresa. She is skilled from her years of experience and amazing at listening and addressing the root issues. I highly recommend her!
