About Karuna
Karuna is a 200 hr RYT certified through Mastani Arts Yoga (A Yoga Alliance Certified School), a Certified Kids Yoga Instructor certified through OmSchooled and a BA in Sociology from UMASS Amherst. Karuna began teaching Yoga as a need that stemmed from her past career life leading a mentoring program for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses where these children were often labeled “hyperactive” even before entering the school system. She is passionately committed to working with others and has been doing so for over a decade. Karuna’s classes are dynamic. She has learned to incorporate breathing techniques that are easily understood by both adults and children as well as poses that will help them stretch and learn about self-confidence. You will often hear laughter in her classroom as she has learned not to take things so seriously and guides her students in the same way. She believes that if we can find the fun in things, then we will be more apt to do them, whether we are 5 or 50.
I love being able to build confidence in even the most novice learner. It's not about touching your toes, but about getting to know who you truly are through this practice. When people truly understand this, they shine!

My students come from all walks of life. They are as unique as snowflakes falling from the sky. Some students have come to me for Yoga because of an injury, others for help with felxibility and movement and others to deepen or begin their Yoga journey.
My approach is such that the varying ages and abilities of my students are taken into account in each and every class. Most importantly, we are there to learn and understand who we are beyond this physical body and to connect that understanding with our daily lives.

Karuna is a very experienced Yoga Teacher, very thorough, kind, patient and excellent at what she teaches.
I have been taking classes with Karuna for about a year and my lower back doesn't bother me like it used to. She works with me at my pace and my body needs. Very fortunate and happy to have her as my Teacher.
