About Andrew

A very pleasant day to you!

My name is AJ and I am passionate about sharing my love for Yoga. I believe in the stability of the little things and how it can make a difference. A contribution to one’s happiness is what I seek. I began my Yoga journey back in 2015 and immediately fell in love. I love how the practice does not push you one way or the other, but always to the center. The practice is balance. It is a balance of variety and consistency, of effort and relaxation.

After a Yoga retreat in Bali, Indonesia back in 2017, I wanted to further my understanding on the practice. In early 2018, I decided to undergo a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at the Chicago Yoga Center to better myself in my personal practice. Upon finishing the course, I was starting to have a strong desire to share my knowledge. So I spent an entire summer teaching classes for Beach Yoga Chicago. After each class, I felt the gratitude of the students for all my help and guidance. It feels amazing to be able to contribute to their well-being through a practice that I am very passionate about.

Teaching has led me to realize my own shortcomings and has helped me to grow not only as a teacher, but also as a person.I have grown to have an understanding that all bodies are different and that the physical practice, or Asanas, is merely an instrument that prepares us for what Yoga truly is. I want to be able to teach in such an approach that would let the student direct their focus inward to further explore and understand the other components that I believe are essential to the practice; the breathe, the mind, and the soul.

Since then, I have been to a few more retreats and seminars with wonderful teachers.
