I have worked in education for over 20 years, with the last 10 years focused specifically on tutoring. I hold a degree in education and am certified to teach in Maryland. My background includes classroom teaching in elementary and middle school settings, as well as extensive one-on-one and small-group tutoring. I have supported students from Pre-K through 8th grade, helping them build foundational literacy skills and grow into confident, fluent readers.
My tutoring work has emphasized phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension. I use evidence-based approaches such as direct instruction, guided reading, and multisensory strategies tailored to the individual needs of each student. I am skilled at identifying gaps in learning and adjusting instruction accordingly. In addition to literacy, I’ve helped students develop writing skills and supported general academic progress across subjects.
Most of my tutoring experience has been in school-based programs where I worked closely with teachers, families, and school leaders to align instruction with curriculum goals. I’ve also provided virtual tutoring and am comfortable using online platforms to engage learners. Whether working with struggling readers or students seeking enrichment, I am committed to fostering a supportive and structured environment that promotes growth.
