About Marcia

I am a trained teacher with a diploma in education, BA in History and a Master's in Government. I have over 30 years' teaching and tutoring experience. AS as a tutor I do one on one counseling with my students to keep them organized and focused.

I have several years' public speaking experience mainly gained through Toastmasters International. I am a past president of the Minutemen Toastmasters Club with vast public speaking experience.

My tutoring style includes a few minutes of lecturing. I have found that having discussions with my students, having them complete assignments and then reviewing these assignments with them is the best method.I encourage my students to be proactive, asks questions and help them to reason through topics for themselves to ensure that they have grasped the concepts.

In addition, no teaching style works for all students so I always make sure to adapt my methods to the learning style of my student. After all, the most important thing is to make sure my students grasp the concepts and develop the ability to complete tasks independently.

I enjoy the confidence that students develop as they master new and sometimes challenging concepts. I also enjoy sharing in my clients' joy when the ace a test, and get good grades.

I always loved teaching. When I was in school I would always help my neighbors with their school work.& nbsp; When I graduated high school I attended teachers' college, and graduated with honors. I have been teaching ever since then.

As as a tutor I do one on one sessions with my students to keep them organized and focused. I develop individual plans for each student and use strategies that meet their specific needs to help them excel.

I have worked as a teacher, both in the USA and Jamaica. have worked with clients from pre k to the professional level.

About the lesson

First, I have a discusssion with the student about his or her needs. Next I do and assessment ato ascertain the students skill level and identify the areas that need to be addressed. After the assessment I develop a program specific to those needs,

I have worked in the education field, both in the USA and Jamaica. I have worked with clients from pre k to the professional level. My students include international students from Korea, Ethiopia, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Honduras and Mexico.

I have worked with business professionals, pastors, writers, college students and students in the regular schools system.
