About Shamsah

Hello, I am Shamsah S. and I am an instructional coach in a public school district. I have a Masters in Educational Leadership. I am a certified General and Special Education teacher. I have taught for more than fifteen years and currently I work with teachers to improve Reading and Writing instruction. Over the years, I have helped numerous students to improve their Reading and Writing skills. I particularly work with 3rd-5th grade students and teachers to focus on STAAR strategies. I am also a "Handwriting without Tears" certified teacher. I understand the curriculum and state standards and align my teaching accordingly. I am very confident that I can help your child in improving their Reading and Writing skills.

I started as a substitute and then worked my way up by working as a teacher's assistant in a special education classroom. I then became a special education teacher for kindergarten and taught high-functioning special education students for six years. I was a reading interventionist and also taught 3rd and 4th grade. Now, I work with Kinder-5th grade teachers.

I have a Masters in Education Leadership. I am a certified Special Education teacher and a certified General Education teacher. I have been in a public school district for fifteen years. Currently, I am working as a instructional literacy coach which means I work with teachers to improve instruction in classrooms by providing training, writing curriculum and modeling teaching.

About the lesson

Before I start working with a student, I would like to know their strengths and areas of growth. I always take time to build connections with my students so that I am able to help them better. I would also like to understand their expectations and goals for themselves.

I have worked with high-functioning special needs students, struggling readers and writers and also Gifted and talented students throughout my career.

Perfect! Our daughter couldn’t read when she was halfway through kindergarten in 2023. With Mrs Shaikh’s help she learnt to read up to the 1st grade level. She also struggles with Math, Ms Shaikh is now helping her build a foundation in maths.
She has been teaching our daughter twice a week for about 1.5 years, best decision we made, so grateful to Ms Shaikh. She is very gentle and loving yet firm in her teaching method. Our daughter loves going to her to learn.
