About Chelsea
To learn one should be in an environment where they are free to share their thoughts and to grow in multi-dimensional ways. I will use different teaching strategies to create an environment that will help a student flourish.
Teaching is not just a process of sharing information with students. I believe a great teacher will learn from their students, colleagues, parents, and the community. This is a lifelong process where you learn new techniques, new ideas, and new philosophies. Over the course of my career, my philosophy has changed and it will continue to do so. I believe that to be a positive thing. It is an example that I have improved and learned.
I enjoy helping others learn. I get so much joy when I see the look on a students face when the pass a test or when they have the "light bulb" or "A-HA!" moment.
I was asked years ago what my idea of a dream job is. My answer was..." My dream job is to get paid to go to learn." That is exactly what I do. I am in my dream job!
I have a California teaching credential as well as 8 years teaching experience. I also have a degree in psychology which gives me a better understanding of how the human mind works which helps me to be more successful as an instuctor/tutor.

First I introduce myself to my student. Then I have the student tell me all about themselves including their past, hobbies, interests and hope for the future. The more I know about my student and who they are as well as what they want out of life, the better I can serve my student and the more successful they will be. Then I tell my student about myself. This is to see if we work well together. WE MUST HAVE A GOOD CHEMISTRY! If we have that...we can accomplish anything together.
Then I have my student make out a list of what their academic goals are and a list of what their expectations are of me.

She was great in helping me learn the material needed to pass my certification exam. I would highly recommend this individual.
I liked the fact that Mrs. Rivera was patient and took her time to explains things the best she could to help us understand the topic. We could reach her anytime if we had questions about assignments and she made the course enjoyable by showing us videos related to the topics we discussed. She’s a great instructor!
