About Christian

I am able to take complex Math concepts and explain it in an easy and fun way! I am patient and encouraging to students that have struggled with Math or want to solidify their current understanding of the subject. I help to identify their weaknesses and provide them the knowledge they need to be confident in the solution AND themselves!

It's funny because I have a gift in teaching (particularly in Kath) from my father, who was my High School Math teacher and is even still, teaching Math in his retirement.

Anyways, I've been teaching/tutoring on and off for the better part of 20yrs and have the same patient, compassionate and driven style my father has - and he's the best teacher I've ever had!! So I try and emulate that with the students I have the opportunity to work with.

Although I have over 20yrs of tutoring experience, presently I have been tutoring part-time for the last year. I have (3) students presently - I tutor one in College Algebra, one in High School Algebra II/Geometry and one in basic arithmetic (9yrs old)

I have an Associate's Degree in Information Technology and I'm presently working on my Bachelors degree in the same major.

Furthermore, I've been tutoring (technically) since I was in high school - 1999. I helped tutor my own classmates in the Math portion for the SAT/ACT, in college (1999-002) I tutored High School seniors in Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry and Trigonometry -AND- from 2016-2018, I tutored Math to both the homeless and underserved at a non-profit here in Vallejo.

About the lesson

The first meeting I have is with the student helps me to establish a baseline so that I can understand their level of understanding. Once we've determined that level, I help to enhance their own abilities as well as introduce new ideas so they can build on those mathematical concepts. It must be said, every student is different and I do not treat each as such - rather, I tailor a specific roadmap for each student's comprehension level of Math (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, etc) and outline achievable goals so they can have a sense of accomplishment once complete!

I've worked with student in elementary, middle and high school - as well as college level students.

However, I'm not soliciting my tutoring assistance with math above Algebra II/Geometry

I would emphasize inner-confidence. A lot of times, the students I tutor have issues when they make mistakes and get frustrated. But I assure them that this is a learning process and with encouragement and positive affirmations, they tend to work better. Also, getting personalized attention (opposed to being in a classroom full of 20-30 kids) can make a huge difference!

I was proud to help a recent student of mine that has anxiety/ADHD pass his Finals in Algebra II this summer (summer school). He's missed the better part of February-April this past year in class and had fallen behind prior to that. We were able to raise his grade from a "D" to a "B-" over the summer with my help in the (5) tests he'd missed as well as the Final!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try and focus on the specific areas they struggle with instead of saying that they "just don't understand" or making vague complaints.

My standard pricing is $20 per hour and I request it after the completion of the service (after each lesson)

Upon request, I have a formal contract explaining the services provided as well as pricing.
