About Mariana

In order to understand Math you must learn to love it!

Math can be difficult to understand at times but I guarantee that practice makes perfect! i love to provide each student with multiple examples so that they can memorize the steps they need to take to resolve a math problem. Explaining to students that math is like a puzzle is one of the best metaphors I can share! It is up to me to show them the different rules/tools they need to utilize in order for them to be able to solve their problem/puzzle.

My high school math teacher inspired me to pursue a math major so that I can one day join teaching but I decided to follow my dream and I received my Bachelor's of Architecture.

although I chose a different career, I have been tutoring math to my relatives and some close friends for over 10 years because it was something that remained close to my heart!

I once believed I would never love Math or be good at it but when you are presistant and dedicated to learn, there is nothing that can stop you. I am here to extent my hand and help others know, they too, are capable of anything!

My relatives needed help understanding math so I began tutoring only relatives. My tutoring expanded as I continued school and began tutoring my own classmates and friends.

I have a bachelors in architecture which has made me take extensive math courses. I have tutored family members, other classmates, & friends.

About the lesson

I usually give myself 2 weeks after confirming our tutoring session just so I have enough time to order the student’s book for myself to follow along. I also request to have their math teachers email or be provided with a syllabus or schedule of the test/quiz dates so the student is well prepared for those key dates. Once this is established, we move forward with the following tutoring session by doing the following steps.

1. I review their weekly homework/assignments and review all problems they were concerned with or would like more assistance with.

2. together we go over the math problems and I show step by step and different techniques on how to solve them.

3. When they the need extra review, I lay out a few variations of math problems, and together, I let them help me solve them.

4. Once they are familiar with the process I lay out aditional math problems and have them solve it on their own.

5. We the look back and review the problems I assigned to them. I go step by step so that they constantly see/hear the steps they need to take to solve the problem and how to successfully catch their errors, if any.

I have worked with kids beginning at 7 years old to college students.

Always look for someone who is passionate about their field of work, patient, kind, and someone who will always be persistent to never give up.
