About Sol

I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I believe that academic success is not linear, and I am here to help students overcome the ineviatble humps that occur during the school year. I strive to make each student feel comfortable, heard, and appreciated. I do this by making my classes dynamic and appropiate for each age group, while adressing the specifc needs that they have.

What I enjoy the most about tutoring is hearing the "Oh's" that my students express when a concept that they used to find challenging becomes easier. Hearing that provides an inmense amount of gratification for me, and it reminds me time and time again of why I do what I do. Additionally, I really enjoy getting to know all of my students, as the more I know them, the easier it becomes for me to tailor each tutoring session to satisfy their needs.

I started tutoring during my sophomore year of high school where I became a peer tutor through the National Honor Society. Shortly after that, I realized that I loved tutoring and decided to pursue it as a part-time job outside of school.

I have sucessfully completed IM1-IM3, as well as AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics and Statistical Inference for Management ll. I am also a native Spanish speaker, and I earned a 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam.

About the lesson

The first thing I do when I start working with a new student is ask them what they want to get out of our sessions together. Additionally, I always ask what their leanring style is, and what their expecations of me are. Once that is clear, I start working on lesson plans that are suited to each student's individual needs.

I have worked with students ages four through seventeen in Spanish and math.

Last semester I worked with a student that was really struggling with motivation, and as a result of that, he was failing his math class. Once we started working together, he got more enagegd with the material, and his attitude towards the subject completely changed. After two months of working with him, he was able to improve his grade form an F to a B. Seeing him improve and be excited about math was a really rewarding experience.
