About Carol

Passion for Mathematics and helping students succeed.

I have been a Math Tutor, Substitute Teacher, and College/Career Advisor for 10 years. I formed a math mentor/tutoring program engaging 12th graders to assist me in tutoring middle school students in math. I also created SAT Prep workshops for high school students.

Prior to my work in the local school district I held an executive management position for a high tech company in Silicon Valley, with over 30 years experience in the Tech Industry in Product Engineering.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA.

I love helping students succeed in Math.

Served as a TA in College, math.

Became certified substitute teacher in 2011; served in the local schools from 2011 to 2020. Also served as the College/Career advisor where I also offered tutoring in math and beginning Spanish.

Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Led College Level problem solving class as a senior in College.

Tutored in Math (and beginning Spanish) at local high school and middle school.

Substitute Teacher for K-12, including 6 week long term sub for math teacher out on medical leave. Created lesson plans and lessons, graded classwork and homework, gave lectures, and created final exam for semester. Covered Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and pre-calc at the high school level.

About the lesson

Discuss with the students what issues they feel they have in math.

Review student test scores with specific exams where I can see their work.

Evaluate gaps.

Develop a plan that addresses those gaps.

Work directly one-on-one on lessons/examples/worked problems. Work with student through math problems.

Help develop a process for showing work.

Create worksheets for extra practice with answers so students can check work.
