When working with a new student I like to take the time to understand which way of learning is best for them (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic). After recognizing the best approach, I like to start with a pre-test for the certain concept that the student is troubling with. Doing this gives me an estimate of what topics of the concept are difficult to comprehend for the student.
I have worked with grades K-12. I have worked with seniors in high school who are trying to imporve their math SAT scores. I have volunteered at an elementary school and worked with groups of fifth graders. I also have experience with other ages and grades, mainly focusing on math or science topics.
