I have Bachelors and Masters' degrees in education and have been teaching for 7 years in preschools, gymnastics gyms, and traditional classrooms (Kindergarten through college). I taught 6th and 7th grade math during the 2020-2021 school year and will be teaching 8th grade ELA in the 2021-2022 school year. Prior to my classroom, I tutored math and English at the high school and collegiate levels through Missouri State Univeristy.
I am a certified middle school teacher in KS and MO for grades 5-9 in ELA and mathematics.
I love seeing students achieve their goals and make huge gains in their learning. Whether it's high school credit recovery, finally passing that college math class, or just an elementary school kid really "getting" long division for the first time, I love to see those lightbulb moments and to create a passion for life-long learning in someone who may have dreaded all school previously.
7 years of experience teaching (certified math teacher, substitute teacher of all subjects, preschool teacher, gymnastics teacher).
Current MO and KS teaching licenses.

I generally like to meet with my students for a free consultation in a public place (library, park, etc.) to discuss struggles, concerns, goals, and circumstances. This allows me to create a study plan and allows us to discuss scheduling and pricing that fits the students' needs and constraints. Then, I will create a proposed schedule and study plan to be sent before our first meeting for approval, which is highly individualized for each student.
I have worked with students from 6 months to 25 years old, mainly in English Language Arts and Mathematics. These students included English Language Learners, students with exceptionalities (Gifted), and students with learning difficulties (SPEd IEPs and 504s).
Always meet with them first and look for a teacher that you like - if you don't like the teacher, you will not learn from them!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- What have you struggled with before (attention, content, specific parts of a subject, etc.)?
- How much work are you willing to put into the learning process outside of tutoring? Remember, it's okay to be honest, we just need to know what we are working with to design better lessons!

My 9th grade son is very receptive to tutoring help from Natalie, and he makes a lot of progress when working with her in all subjects. She is knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and effective!
Natalie helped me with my thesis in my masters program. I truly do not think I would have passed without her help! My writing was disjointed and not grammatically correct, but I had good ideas. She helped me get my ideas from my head to paper in a way that made sense to someone outside.
She was incredible at changing and adapting her teaching style to make sure I understood each concept if the original didn’t work. Her attitude is always positive, inclusive, and focused on making sure I absorb information the way I am able. She works on my level instead of forcing me to adapt to her, and is always incredibly understanding and encouraging.
Natalie worked with me at the Missouri State tutoring center. She was kind and helpful, and worked around my schedule to get me the help I needed on my essays and when I needed guidance in math classes. I would recommend her to anyone, especially for grammar, conventions, word choice, and essays. She is also great with resumes, cover letters, and other work documents. Natalie also responds quickly to texts for extra help and is always willing to lend an extra hand!
