About Dharshini

Tutoring is my way to connect and help another. I believe the student and I are equal; we are learning from each other. Being someone that worked relentlessly to understand the process and not memorize, I have learned how to articulate my words in a way that the person I am teaching can comprehend as easily as possible. I am currently a senior at Northville High School with a GPA of 3.97. I have taken 6 APs, and currently I am taking 3 APs and 1 IB. Knowing this, I am available to tutor for not only math, but also anything I may be of help. Being a President of HOSA and IASA and event leader for Science Olympiad, I have learned to go out of my comfort zone and manage my time very well. I hope you can give me a chance!

I started teaching my younger brother at first- just the basics like addition and subtration. Furthermore, my friends have difficulty with their classes and come to me to have things better explained, and thus far, I have gotten good reviews.

I am still a student in high school, but that works better sometimes because I may be able to articulate my words in a way that makes better sense to the student than the teacher did for them.

About the lesson

Prior to our session, I always like knowing what concept or unit we will be working on in class. First, I try to connect with the student and then from there I try to understand where their fundamental knowledge in math stands. From there, I try to review the topic in general based on the notes they have received in class or knowledge of my own. The scoping out of their fundamental knowledge helps me here to ensure that I explain concepts and ideas in a way they understand. And finally, I always find practicing and hands on work is the best method of learning, so we would work on the assignment they need help with as well.

I have worked with Special Ed students, younger children ages 4-10, and high schoolers.
