About Lindsay

At my university, I studied Public Policy with the hopes of going into education policy. I love working with students and understanding how to adjust the classroom to their needs and interests. I have a minor in occupational therapy, which also has informed me on how schools should adapt resources to diverse learned students.

I am Praxis certified in Middle School Math and Science and have a certification for fundamentals of TESOL (teaching English as a second language). I am going into education as an English Teaching Assistant for my Fulbright Scholarship beginning in February. I have also taught and 8th grade 9 week social studies class and a 7th grade after school science program. My students have raged from 1st-12th grade and I have worked with neurodiverse students as well.

I like to start but understanding my student's learning style (auditory, tactile-kinesthetic, or visual) as well as their learning goals to start. This helped me better address specific things when we are doing practice exercises or preparing for assessments. I also like to learn about the student's interests so I can make lesson plans they would enjoy while still learning core content.

I have worked with various types of students in terms of age, prior knowledge in the subject, and behavioral or developmental needs.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What are my learning goals for this subject?

2. What are some of my glows (strengths) and grows (areas of improvement) in this subject area?

3. How do I best like to learn and how can my tutor help me understand things my teacher might not explain how I need it?

With my certifications, my services are typically $45/hr. I am open to negatiate to whatever the family is comfortable with, but this is my typical range since I make lesson plans or additional materials from scratch to supplement the school work they have to work on.
