About Mallory

Hello! My name is Mallory. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I have been tutoring professionally for 6 years, both freelance and for a tutoring company. I have worked in-home and via Zoom. While I have experience tutoring multiple subjects, my specialty is English, including writing, grammar, linguistics, spelling, reading, and test prep.

I believe in a relationship-based approach to tutoring. Trust is the foundation of an effective relationship between tutor and student. My sessions are casual yet focused. I spend time getting to know my students and building a rapport. We create goals together and I give my students a very active role in the progression of their own education. After working with me, students feel confident, at ease, and well-equipped with tools to help them succeed.

I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I completed student teaching in middle and high school classrooms. I have tutored professionally for 7 years. My experience spans from ages 5 to 25.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, it's important to establish a relationship to build trust. I take some time to get to know the student's personality, hobbies, and their expectations and goals for tutoring. I find that building confidence goes a long way with improving performance.
