About Jaime

Hi! My name is Jaime and I am an experienced and passionate caregiver and teacher. I have been working with children for nearly 10 years and have been teaching for 7. Currently, I am an English and Social Studies teacher.

I truly love working with children, and I have a wide range of experience. I was a swim instructor for two years and have worked in pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. I have been a tutor for 3 years collaborating with clients and their students to create learning plans. I have experience as a nanny/tutor in full-time and travel capacities for children 1-16.

I am joyful, compassionate, and dedicated. Kids are insightful, curious, energetic, and kind, and I strive to nurture these qualities. I am excited about connecting with the right family to provide support and care to their most treasured members!

I have always had a passion for teaching and I believe that learning can happen anywhere, anytime, about anything. A good teacher can marry the interests, curiosities, and aspirations of their students with challenging, developmentally-appropriate, and scaffolded opportunities for assimilation of new knowledge.

A good teacher is also one that makes their students feel respected and valued. As an educator, I prioritize the wellbeing of my students and truly honor the background, experiences, feelings, needs, and gifts of each child.

I have worked in multi-leveled classrooms, and have taught students from preK to High School. I have extensive experience in teaching reading and writing to children of all ages and abilities. In my current high school, I work with students who are struggling to meet grade-level standards, and I enjoy providing compassionate educational support. I understand intimately how the pandemic has impacted children and their education, and would love to help out. I have always designed my own curriculum and lesson plans and am comfortable with differentiation for different levels. I would love to collaborate with your family and the school to create a custom curriculum.

I got started teaching at 16 years old teaching swim lessons. I am WSI certified.

I have credits in early childhood education and I am a former high school humanities teacher. I have been tutoring math for 7 years and my degree is in Biology. I have taught in elementary, middle, and high school classes for children and adults of all ages with academic goals requiring support.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, we start by exploring their current skill level and needs. Then, alongside parents and the school, we construct a plan to target specific areas of improvement.

I have experience with students of all ages and abilities. I have 3 years experience working with students who have ADHD and dyslexia.

Details

My standard rate is $65 per hour. Some exceptions. For a drive of more than 40 minutes, I will charge an additional flat $10 per lesson to compensate my time
