About Michael

I have a vast amount of experience Teachinmg and Tutoring Math. I love math and my approach is to teach in real world (laments) terms so it can make sense.

I love Math and I love helping others. I am grateful to be able to and willing to share my gift.

I drove by a school and saw a group of students and had an epiphany to teach. I left the Computer Programming profession which was extremely lucrative to procure a Math Teacher position in NYC. The first year was very rough but I learned that to be a successful teacher you must prepare and meet the students where they are. I am a student centered teacher. When you understand it, it is then that I feel successful. What helped is that I always did teh work that I assigned so I could evaluate how the student will see it.

I achieved my NY State Certification to teach Mathematics at the High School level. I have 13 years of experience teaching HS Math on a full time basis. I particpated in many after school and Saturday programs tutoring students. I also achieved a Certification in Graphing Caluclators and am very proficient in its use to aid in solving problems. My experience includes Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 (Pre-Calc) and Statistics.

About the lesson

I will try to get to know a little about them and their math experience. I will then proceed to inquire about how they will like me to help them. Finally I will come up with a plan for the tutoring as I assess how they answer math questions.

I have worked with full gamet of students. From High Honors to Special Ed and my approach nevers wanes. I explain, demonstrate, then let student(s) practice. I believe that everyone can learn and improve no matter what level they are at.
