About Katelynn
Since I have a degree in social work, I specialize in working with students that are struggling to learn due to learning differences. I take a strengths-based approach to tutoring which means I focus on a student's assets in order to help them gain confidence and succeed in areas where there is room for improvement.
I enjoy watching a student that dreads school grow into a confident eager learner. It is always a joy to have a student beaming with pride when they are achieving grades that they did not think were possible for them.
I have a BA and an MA. Throughout the years I have tutored at the following locations:
The Florida Baptist Children's Home: A residential care home for abandoned or neglected children.
Page 15 Homework Room: A non-profit organization providing after school homework help to Orlando's highest poverty neighborhood.
Varsity Tutors: A tutoring company that provides one-on-one tutoring online and in person.

When I first sit down with a new student I typically perform a test in the subject that they need tutoring in. The test aims to see what material they know already. If there is course material that the teacher has covered, but the student does not understand then our first task is to work on bringing them up to speed so that they are able to better understand the new class material. Once the student is up to speed I offer a supportive role of making sure the student continues to stay on track.
I have worked with a range of students in many grade levels including students with dyslexia, autism, ADHD, speech impediments, and English as a second language.
