About Justin
I am easy going yet knowledgeable and I try to relate to students as people first and understanding that math is often times a tedious task however with the right approach and attitude I can relay information and make it fun and a little less mind numbing and repititous through laughter and smiles.
I enjoy the "Lightbulb Affect" by that I mean the look on a students face when they finally understand a troublesome topic and it creates a since of self confidence which was absent prior to that understanding. It is very gratifying!
I started tutoring while in the process of pursuing my bachelors degree, which is where I developed a passion and skill for helping others to understand math. It has been a part time passion ever since in various capacities.
I am a Mechanical Engineer, therefore the majority of my training is based in mathematics on various levels. I began tutoring during undergraduate school when I took a position as student athletic tutor in which I tutored my fellow student athletes in math and physics. I have worked as a supplemental educational services (SES) tutor working within Title 1 schools within CMS. I worked as an afterschool tutor for Second to None, Greater Enrichment Program as well as independently while associated with online tutoring services such as Wyzant and Varsity Tutors. I have worked with students from Elementary all the way through High School in various subjects including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Physics.

Once the initial introduction has taken place the first step in any tutoring process is to assess the students current understanding of the material by asking questions in regard to what if any topics the student is comfortable with in comparison to those in which the student is having trouble with. It is best to try to find something that the student enjoys doing outside of math and trying to relate that activity to the material if possible. The first meeting is usually just a chance to get to know the student and what learning style the student has whether it be visual by seeing more examples or auditory where it is more useful to hear the procedure in repetition. Although every student is different this is usually a great starting point when beginning the tutor process with a new student.
I have worked with Elementary, Middle and High School students over the years in various subjects including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Physics.
In trying to find the right tutor first it is important to evaluate the knowledge base of the tutor, however it is equally important to find someone that you can relate to and are comfortable with, by this I mean it often works best for everyone involved if the student/tutor relationship is as close to friend/friend relationship as possible.
I enjoy sporting events of all kinds.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is it that I would like to accomplish from the session?
What exactly do I need help understanding?
What do I understand about the material?

He made math simple for my son who has ADHD. He is very patience with kids.
Justin worked with my daughter, she is in middle school. The way he explained the basics of Algebra she understood it and it made sense to her. He was professional and very knowledgeable.
I really admired his delivery. Before Justin started working with my son he hated math. Now my son enjoys the subject and is excelling! He was not only a great tutor but a great mentor as well. Thank you Justin!
