I have worked within the Lakewood School District teaching Math and Science and the Toms River School District teaching Language arts and Math.

I currently hold a 4.0 in Grad school from Stockton University.

I have tutored for 3 years from volunteering to contractual.

I work in Lakewood Middle School. It is a difficult but rewarding experience. I work for the “lightbulb moment”. When a student grasps the understanding of a concept. This has been the most enjoyable times of my 5 year teaching career. So much so, I had decided to start tutoring within my school. I now tutor all year long helping students feel confident in themselves and their learning experience. I truly believe one-on-one learning (or tutoring) can establish that confidence.

About the lesson

My process is differentiated to each students individual needs.

Typically, I will need to know the average grades in the subject area the child is tutored in. Even past work can be a huge assistance! I will focus on basics. If the student seems fine with basic concepts I will deliver a comprehension quiz to better understand struggling areas.

Afterwards, for each session I will bring worksheets and learning games for the student to practice. Students will typically self-evaluate their confidence and understanding of the days lesson to allow me to better prepare for the upcoming week.

Usually students benefit from 2-3 times a week tutoring more than once, but I am aware of busy schedules. During once a week visits I may leave the student with a worksheet to practice between tutoring sessions.
