About Ankitha
Hello! I have tutored kids in Pershing, TH Rogers, Lanier, and Pin Oak Middle School in math, english, social studies, and science. I have been tutoring students for the past three years in a diverse amount of subjects from math to social studies. The best part about tutoring is helping students grow overtime. My tutoring techniques vary by student and consists of teaching concepts that students lag in, following a syllabus, and/or going over homework problems.
As said before, my favorite part about tutoring is seeing students grow and become more confident. Hearing how they got an A on the last math test or how they understand a topic the teacher taught in class makes me feel really happy.
I have been in academic tutoring for the past 3 years and have taught about 10 kids in the Houston area. Along with academic tutoring, I am the founder of a piano and ASL tutoring non-profit organization, Quia Plus. I have been running this organization for the past four years with the help of volunteers. With this said, I have a lot of experience with kids. When working with a new student, I try my best to make them feel comfortable by conversing with them about their hobbies and their favorite/ least favorite subjects. Next, I ask them to show me what they know about the topic we are learning about. I address gaps and do practice problems with them. Afterwards, I give them a few problems to work on by themselves and try to strengthen the topic even more.
