About Rob

If you've ever wondered who's the guy that reads historical fiction, studies medieval building techniques or reads treatises like The Federalist Papers for fun.. wonder no more!

I'm a professional history nerd that loves to analyze and provide insightful new outlooks on events you may never have considered important and why they matter today!

I'm Rob and hold a Bachelor's in History Education from the University of Georgia with a minor focus in European History (and a special focus on the Early Middle Ages, they're so intriguing!) At one point I intended to become a teacher and although I took a different path I still love to share the reverence, respect and insight that comes from both appreciating where we came from as a species and how the world we know today was built from it.

Whether it's brushing up for test prep or wanting a fresh outlook on content you've already studied I'd love to help. I'm deeply familiar with material covered across AP World, AP US and AP Euro.

My partner is a Calculus teacher and created her own tutoring service and seeing the flexibility of the online platform plus the joys of working with students up close has motivated me to make my own foray.

About the lesson

Consulting to determine what material is to be covered and what is hoped to be gained.. a quick review of a topic that is unclear, cramming for an exam or a broad review to prep for AP exams.

Understanding the goal is important to determine how to move forward and then adapting the information assimilation process to match how the student relates to both History in general and the topic at hand.

Finding someone who can relate the information in a way that not only makes sense to you but you can relate to. It's one thing to hear history talked about but true understanding happens when you can feel the weight of the information you're presented and start to critically process not just what it is but why it matters.

A trip to Greece. The history overload of walking through the ancient Agora in Athens up to the Pynx where the first vestiges of democratic government took shape.. driving through the Greek mountains to the site of the Oracle of Delphi and back down to Thermopylae.
