About Kisakye

Hello! My name is Kisakye (Chi-as-chè)! I am a recent graduate from the University of California- Santa Barbara obtained a BA in Global Studies with a double emphasis in international relations and Europe. I am very passionate about world cultures and how they are interconnected in the global world. I have studied abroad in London for a semester (2018 when the Britain left the EU #scandolous) to study culture and politics within the EU as well as interned at a special needs high school/college for disabled students while there. I know history can be deemed as boring/troublesome: trust I felt that too. Thus, my job is to show you how important yet intriguing it truly is through modern methods/current events. I primarily teach middle school-10th grade.

I started tutoring in high school by giving piano lessons fir a few years. This experience enabled me to qualify as a DSP note taker in university. By becoming a notetaker, it gave me the necessary experience and qualifications to receive mulitiple internships in my study abroad program as teaching assistant and ambassador. Thus, ultimately landed me an internship once I came back to UCSB in the abroad program as a Global Intern.

About the lesson

First, I get to know the students learning process. Are they an audio or visual learning? Are they a heavy reader or prefer videos/documentaries? Next, I evaluate their grade averages so I have better understanding of what level we are starting from so that we set ourselves up for success by creating a progressive learning system.

-5th grade to mid twenties

- disabled students (specifically students with Down syndrome, ADHD/ADD, and dyslexia)

- I do have most experience with 5th grade to8th grade and disabled students.

History is so important to learn! Very cliche I know. However, it's very necessary to understand how the global world works because we are all global citizens. We will encounter so many people from various backgrounds throughout life so my job is to give you the space to ask those uncomfortable questions in a safe space so you can be as well versed as possible. Especially if you think you are going to major in sociology, communications, STEM, etc.
