About William

I am a continuous student of the guitar myself and always enjoy passing on knowledge to anyone that I know. All of my self taught experience and dedication has given me the practical knowledge to get anyone up to speed to become a performing musician——From a big club stage, cozy pub or just at the family picnic.

I have a comfortable studio in my home that I share with my 2 teenage sons and English Bulldog Jack right on the Delaware River in Historic Bristol PA.

My lessons run 30 minutes. You’re welcome to bring anyone along with you to relax in the studio during the lesson.

I’m available days, some nights and most weekend days and nights (I do perform, so my teaching schedule will sometimes vary.)

I am a performing musician with over 35 years of experience.

I will teach all aspects from equipment, guitar maintenance, ear training, basic scales and arpeggios, proper picking techniques and exercises, open and movable chords, how to read chord charts, how to accompany yourself and others, how to best perform live in band and solo situations. Songwriting tips———build lessons around your favorite songs———discuss the theory behind them, the proper way to play and perform them.

Forget all that above for one second———I’ll show you enough right away to start having fun right away. Then we’ll build on that to make you a musician.

My current teacher who I’ve been with advised me to start taking on students. It was something he was told to do by his teacher as well over 60 years ago.

I only have a few years of formal training and am currently taking master classes in jazz improvisation.

The rest of my knowledge is hands on live and self taught experience.

About the lesson

I have been a guitarist for 40 years, starting formal lessons at the age of 10.

My love for and obsession with music and the guitar quickly enables me to get into performing at the age of 15 accompanying my father (who is a vocalist) at church.

From there it became reading, listening, studying, ear training and constant practice that helped me to network and find other musicians to collaborate with and start gaining experience playing in bands.

Over the years my performing experience has allowed me the opportunity to enjoy playing in both cover and original bands, church praise bands and orchestras, opening for national touring acts, session work, music videos, live television, acoustic solo and duo acts, arranging, songwriting and cowriting of original material, ensemble playing, hosting open mic events.

I also sing in all of my endeavors, so I can show the value of being a guitarist / lead and background vocalist in a solo or group situation.

You need a patient teacher who will not expect more from you that you can handle.

No one is going to get it over night

If you are dedicated and love music and WANT to play and create music——it will happen slowly but surely.

If you just want to try, but are unsure——we can give it a go. It’s not the easiest thing in the world. If you’re not fully committed and cannot set aside some time everyday for practice it just won’t happen. That’s just the facts.

My lessons run $30 per half hour.

i take cash at the start of each lesson

Most lessons will run a few minutes overtime

You can always let me know if you have to move the time earlier or later in the day or to another day in the week. I’m pretty flexible.

Cancellations happen, so please give me a heads up as soon as possible if you can’t show up.

Frequent cancellations will result in loss of your time slot.
