About Esther
“There is nothing in this world that you cannot learn and nothing that you cannot unlearn.” This is the mindset I try and educate everyone that I come into contact with. We can “unlearn” the negative thoughts that hinder us from taking on new projects and endeavors. We can learn new skills, trade to market, and theoretical concepts to adopt. We are limited to nothing.
It is through this mindset that has helped me tutor the 40+ kids I’ve spent over a decade teaching. I have helped tutor children on assignments associated with elementary mathematics, middle school English, high school sciences, and collegiate level essay writing. I have also served as a teaching assistant during Sunday school and helped conduct several in-class bible study session activities.
When it comes to my teaching methodologies, I focus on a client-centered approach. I first begin with the mindset they currently possess, and work on transitioning their perspective from “I can’t” to “I can.” Through my sessions, I work on helping my students adopt independence, self-reliance, and repeated diligence when it comes to solving class assignments, and help them come up with real-world applications.
Sessions with me have sometimes been associated with having a personal life coach, and I can’t wait to help you with that experience as well. I will push you, help you grow, and support you from start to finish, guaranteed.
The most rewarding moment is when the student has a Eureka moment. Yes, learning is a journey, but nothing is more enticing, more surreal, and more pleasing than when a student is finally able to comprehend and see things in the same perspective that you have been all along. It's even more wonderful when they see their worth and build resiliency and diligence out of it. Nothing makes me more proud of the work that I do than that moment.
I have interests and knowledge in many domains and subjects, but my strongest include psychology, writing, and study skills.
I currently possess a B.A. degree in psychology and have over two years of research experience working as a research assistant in 3 laboratories dedicated to health psychology, and one dedicated to cognitive science. I will be starting as a doctoral student in clinical psychology soon, so topics related to mental health and clinical pathology will become a concentrated subject of mine.
I have many years of experience in English and essay writing as well. In high school, I took an AP English literature course where I not only ended the term with an A, but also successfully passed the AP exam with a 4. I’ve also spent the last couple of years editing manuscripts for research projects, applying and successfully receiving research grants and academic scholarships, and also formulating conference level presentations based on novel research projects. My literary works have eared me several awards and recognitions as well. Writing helps us explore and dissipate various theoretical concepts and approaches, and I feel that my years of experience would serve as an amazing material when leading tutoring sessions dedicated to writing.
I can also assist anyone in building study habits and developing study skills that are just right for them. I say this due to mastering my own study skills, which in turn has resulted in a high school honors GPA of 4.0, and a college GPA of3.95 - earning my graduation title of highest honors. I feel as though my successes and study methodologies would make me an excellent tutor in study skills.

When it comes to new students, I try and start building rapport and then identify some things we can work on. What are some of their favorite things that can be used as positive reinforcement later on? What are some skills they are weak in that we can make stronger over time? I build friendships and an environment of understanding so new students can understand that I'm not just a tutor, but someone that can take on the role of an advisor, mentor, and life coach as well.
I have worked with students of all age ranges across many subjects. I've had experience working between the ages of 4 and 16, and am willing to expand on this range as well. I've taught topics related to biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, and many others outside of a course subject such as study skills and scholarship applications. Need help with anything? Just ask and I'll try my best to support and assist you with it.

She was really kind and has a nice personality. Id recommend her to anyone
She didn't rush me like some tutors do. She allowed me the time I needed to fully understand what I was learning.
She was really sweet and had such a gentle voice. She was was patient and gave really good examples for our lessons. I could tell they were really thought out and planned in advance
She was really professional and had well thought out lesson plans. She told me what we would be going over, gave great examples, and allowed me moments to understand and think things through. She didn't rush the learning process, and made me feel comfortable with my mistakes. Really nice and accepting of any mnemonics I thought of. She even remembered, expanded on, and referenced them throughout the lesson. Which was awesome. She's also super encouraging and patient. Real great gal.
She was really patient and kind when teaching me. Allowed me to asked questions when I had them rather than making me wait (and eventually forget). I felt comfortable and unashamed of my occasional lack of understanding. She was very good as explaining things, very detailed and thorough. Sometimes in chronological order, sometimes relational order, and sometimes in simple to complex order; either way it all made sense. Smooth and obviously prepared lessons with relatable and/or realistic examples. I enjoyed having her as my tutor and would recommend her without hesitation.
It doesn't matter your mood before you got there. She will leave you smiling. If not from helping you feel better about yourself, then from how confident you feel about solving homework assignments like the one you just completed in the future. She's not just a tutor but a friend.
She Is so kind! She will sit down with you and walk through the entire problem with you. If you're struggling, she'll come up with at least 3 different ways of explaining the concept to you, and then give you real world applications on how to do it as well. She won't directly tell you the answers, but she'll guide you to discover it and that makes me feel so much better about myself like I did it on my own. Highly recommend her!
