About Alyssa

Looking to aid those in need of guidance in regards to English and sciences based out of Southeast Michigan. A published journalistic writer of three years, editing and analysis aficionado. Planning on majoring in Biology and English literature at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with a minor in communications.

I have yet to start professionally teaching, but I have run a class at my school for a year with a mentor supervising.

I have yet to officially begin training, but I will soon enough begin it in the fall of 2018. I am qualified in the fact that I've had two years editorial experience in journalistic writing. I have been trained by different levels of English professionals, as well as have taken their classes.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I prefer to have them fill out a survey so I can best learn how they learn. I ask questions such as their educational background, preferences in a learning environment, etc. Then, I ask for a copy and a background of the lesson they've learned. On occasion, I'd like to get background information on the class depending on the situation. Afterward, we'd schedule a time and we'd begin via Skype and Google Suites!

I've worked with several different types of students: students who rarely struggle to those who have a difficult learning. I've also worked with many who have learning disabilities.

When looking for the right tutor, you need to find someone who is more than willing to work with your needs as well as keep you on your toes! It's all about finding someone with the right balance. That being said, you also want them to be as honest as possible about your learning, that's why you've got them!

A recent event I am fond of is actually about learning! Recently, I took a class centered around the art of studying itself, and it was incredible! I was able to pick up many new methods of testing, note-taking, handling difficulties learning, etc. It was an incredible learning experience about learning!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They need to think through three big questions: what is at the heart of my needs, what needs to be done to get their job done, and what their big-term and small-term goals are.

I'd prefer to start at $10.00 to $12.00 an hour, as I am just getting my footing in the world of tutoring. If you are not satisfied or would like to negotiate prices, I'd be more than happy to sit down and talk about it!
