About Mary
I love working with children with special needs. I have taught ESL kindergarteners to read and write all the way to working with college students who are on the spectrum. I am an eclectic tutor with an emphasis in Montessori methods. I am ASL friendly not fluent yet!
I started teaching in Presidio Texas on the border of Mexico. My love for working with children with special needs bloomed while I was in Presidio ISD as I met a wonderful little boy who was on the spectrum before autism was prevalent.
Years later, we moved to Virginia where I taught Special Education for severely autistic persons k-12. Once I became a mother, I opted to homeschool and I opened a tutor ing business.
I have a BA in English and taught kindergarten in Texas for 5 years and Special Ed in Virginia for 3 years.

First I would love to schedule a meeting to see if I am a good fit for you. Then I would like to see past work and present. I want you to tell me what you specifically need. Then we will set up a time that works for both of us.
My students have ranged from 4 year olds with speech delay to a marvelous 5 year old on the spectrum, as well as college students, first years and seniors, on the spectrum. I have worked with the deaf and the blind, tutored ESL in Spanish and Russian.

I have a 2 hr minimum at the rate of $25. If you are not comfortable with that block of time, my hourly rate is $15 for tutoring.
