About Laura
I like seeing other people succeed; it's great to see the sense of relief that students get when they come to feel confident with subjects that they used to have trouble understanding. It is a special feeling to know that you played an important part in helping a student master a topic that they once struggled with, thereby also helping to improve their self-esteem. The ability to effectively teach people something they felt they could not understand before is truly a gift.

I have worked with a truly diverse range of students, which has afforded me the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of students' differing needs, and to cultivate a versatile style of tutoring that allows me to be equally effective with remedial reading students and law students from top-tier schools.
I have worked with high school students seeking to improve their grades and performance on admissions examinations such as the PSAT, SAT, SAT II subject tests, and AP exams. I also provide admissions essay editing and consultation. I have also worked with middle school students seeking to improve their grades and score well on the ISEE or SSAT examinations in order to gain admission to prestigious private schools.
I have worked extensively with college students struggling with college-level writing. I helped undergraduate students prepare for the LSAT exam, and I have a great track record of helping students raise their scores up to 20 points or more. In law school, I worked with first year law students to improve their legal writing skills, including using IRAC and proper Bluebook citation.
I also build and edit resumes, a skill that I have cultivated over the years and am especially proud of. I have learned how to expertly tailor resumes and CVs to particular industries, how to seamlessly include Applicant Tracking System keywords to maximize the likelihood of the resume making it to hiring managers.
I started working with young children at an early age; my mother worked as a resource room teacher, helping children with learning disabilities master reading and writing. I have tutored beginning readers, helping them grasp phonics and punctuation. I have worked with older children as well, helping them with homework and other school assignments. In particular, I have worked extensively with children on the autism spectrum, ADHD, NVLD, and other learning/behavioral conditions. I believe that my engaging, respectful approach allows me to communicate effectively with these children and help them become motivated about their academic performance.
