About Jane

I am more passionate about the English language than anyone I've ever met, excepting one English teacher I had in high school. She made me doubt all my other English teachers with everything she taught me that they never did. I think it's almost weird how much I care about grammar and punctuation, and that's what makes me such a good teacher.

I enjoy helping people. Your learning style might not mesh with your school teacher's teaching style. English might not be your first language, and you want to grasp it a little better. Maybe you're out of school and you were an economics major, but a shareholder pointed out your misuse of the word "your" instead of "you're" in your last presentation and you were embarrassed. I'm here to help you.

After rolling my eyes at poorly punctuated billboards or commercials that said they "except credit cards" instead of "accepting" them too many times, I figured I'd do what I can to help others not make those mistakes anymore.

I majored in communication arts in college and, as that can have totally different requirements depending on which school you go to, I took all the classes an English major would need except the literature ones.

About the lesson

Typically, I start by explaining my education and background. Then the student explains what he or she would like to work on and we go from there.

Professionally, I've only worked with high school students, but I have experience helping a college professor proofread his syllabi.
